    Imagine that we could travel through space from one planet to another like we travel on Earth to different states, countries, and continents.  We would need to calculate the relative distance between our destinations in order to determine the time necessary to complete our journey.  The following WebQuest will guide you young explorers through virtual space where you will use the sun as your standard of measurment to calculate the approximate distance between the  planets.  Strap in and let your adventure begin...



INSTRUCTIONS:  Locate the distance between each of the nine planets and the sun by following the links below.  After you have collected the necessary data, use the relative distance between the sun and each planet to calculate the distances between each set of planets in kilometers.
